The Dolch primer list is the 52 sight words most kindergarten reading programs target: she, they, went, what — the connective tissue of every early-reader sentence. This ready-made deck has all 52, each with a short sentence on the back.
Working Through 52 Words
Fifty-two words is a school year, not a weekend. A workable rhythm: introduce 3–5 new words a week, keep the previous weeks' words in review, and retire a card only when recognition is instant three sessions in a row. The deck is editable after you create it — many parents delete mastered words and keep a lean "still working on it" deck, which keeps sessions short and wins frequent.
Print the full set once (double-sided, the print view aligns fronts and backs automatically) for the physical-card kid, and keep the link for practice at grandma's house.
Before and After This List
If several of these words are still hard, step back to the 40 pre-primer words first — the levels build deliberately. After primer comes the Dolch first-grade list (41 words); create a blank deck and type them in, or extend this one.
